Attributed to Charles Peart based on an entry in Josia Wedgwwod I's
(1730-95) notebook dated 1787. The most likely source of John
Flaxman jnr's portrait is the bust by Nollekens.
In the extant factory records which are administered by the Wedgwood
Museum Trust, there is an invoice from John Flaxman Jnr dated 14th
January 1784 for "a portrait of Govr. Hastings £3.3.0"
